MILLER COUNTY, MO (The Lake Tribune) – A serious car accident on Highway 54 resulted in a Kirksville woman being transported to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach with severe injuries early Monday morning. Nancy Gresham, 52, was involved in a single-vehicle crash when her 2012 Buick Regal crossed the median and westbound lanes, struck an embankment, and overturned near Old Tuscumbia Road around 4:30 a.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that Gresham was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the incident, which may have played a role in her survival. Despite this, she sustained serious injuries and was transported by Miller County EMS to Lake Regional for treatment.

CPL M. R. Parker of the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the scene, where the vehicle was described as having extensive damage. The Buick Regal was towed away by Wood’s Towing.

This incident serves as a harrowing reminder of the dangers of driving while drowsy. Gresham’s current condition is being monitored, and no other vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash.
