Missouri (The Lake Tribune) – In a significant development affecting this year’s Missouri State Fair, all events traditionally held at the State Fair Arena have been canceled to make way for the construction of a new indoor facility. This announcement was made through a press release issued on Thursday by the fair organizers.

The decision to cancel events such as rodeo, bull riding, demolition derby, motocross, TT races, and tractor pulls was taken to facilitate the construction of the new venue, which aims to enhance the fair’s offerings and provide a state-of-the-art space for a multitude of events. The new facility is expected to serve as a modern and versatile complex capable of hosting livestock shows, conferences, trade shows, community gatherings, and more, throughout the year, especially during the annual fair season.

Jason Moore, the fair director, expressed gratitude towards the organizers of the affected events for their patience and understanding during this transitional phase. He emphasized that the construction of the new arena is a substantial investment in the future of the Missouri State Fair, indicating the fair’s commitment to improving its infrastructure and visitor experience.

The construction contract has been awarded to Nabholz Construction, with the project slated to begin this summer. The 140,000-square-foot, climate-controlled arena is expected to be completed by 2026, promising enhanced facilities and comfort for fairgoers and participants alike.

Despite the cancellations, the Missouri State Fair is set to proceed with its schedule, running from August 8-18 in Sedalia. The introduction of the new facility is anticipated to mark a new era for the fair, offering improved and expanded event capabilities that will benefit the state and its communities for years to come.
