Missouri (The Lake Tribune) – In a concerning development, the search for Riley Strain, a 22-year-old University of Missouri student missing since March 8, has led to the discovery of his bank card near the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee. Strain vanished under mysterious circumstances after being separated from his friends during a night out in Nashville, where he was visiting with his fraternity brothers.

After being ejected from a local bar owned by country music star Luke Bryan, Strain reportedly told his companions he would walk back to his hotel. However, he never arrived, prompting a widespread search that has now entered its second week. Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement, including the use of boats and a helicopter to scour the river and its banks, there has been no sign of Strain.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police have released security footage showing Strain in the vicinity of 1st Avenue North and Gay Street, displaying signs of disorientation shortly after leaving the bar. This area is notably in the opposite direction of the hotel where he was staying. There has been no evidence of foul play in Strain’s disappearance, and the investigation is still classified as a missing person case.

Authorities are also probing whether Strain was over-served alcohol at Bryan’s establishment, as state law prohibits serving to visibly intoxicated patrons. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission has confirmed this line of inquiry, emphasizing the seriousness of such violations.

Strain’s family, having traveled from Springfield, Missouri, to join the search, expressed their deep concern and anguish over his prolonged absence. His stepfather, Chris Whiteild, described the situation as a “worst nightmare.” An online fundraiser has been established to support the family’s search efforts.

As the community and Strain’s loved ones continue their search, officials urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Metropolitan Nashville Police. The discovery of Strain’s bank card near the river adds urgency to the ongoing search, as questions about his fate remain unanswered.
