CMAC Adds Camdenton as the Eighth Member

In a significant shift in high school sports, Camdenton High School has been officially added to the Central Missouri Activities Conference (CMAC), with the change set to take place in the 2024-2025 school year. The Lakers will become the eighth team in a conference already known for its competitive spirit and strong traditions in academic and athletic excellence.

The CMAC, which currently includes the Battle Spartans, Capital City Cavaliers, Helias Catholic Crusaders, Hickman Kewpies, Jefferson City Jays, Rock Bridge Bruins, and Smith-Cotton Tigers, is poised to gain from the inclusion of Camdenton. A statement from the conference highlighted the anticipated benefits, noting that Camdenton’s participation is expected to “enrich the student experience of member schools” across all sponsored sports and activities.

Camdenton’s athletic director, Bill Kurtz, expressed enthusiasm about the new opportunity, stating, “We’re ready to come up and play.”

The move comes as the Ozark Conference is set to dissolve after the 2023-2024 school year, prompting member schools to seek new affiliations. While Rolla High School has opted to pursue an independent path in athletics, as confirmed by Activities Director Mark Cabellero, Lebanon, and Waynesville have chosen to join the Central Ozark Conference.

The realignment reflects the dynamic nature of high school sports and activities, as institutions continually seek the best competitive fit for their student-athletes and programs. The addition of Camdenton High School to the CMAC is a testament to the school’s commitment to excellence and marks a new chapter in the conference’s storied history.
