Body Found in Missouri River Near Casino

ST. JOSEPH, MO. (The Lake Tribune) — A body was discovered in the Missouri River near a casino early Sunday morning after a 911 call reported someone had fallen into the river.

According to the St. Joseph Police Department (SJPD), the call came in around 4:15 a.m. Sunday, prompting a swift response from local authorities, including the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The body was identified as 38-year-old Darrel S. Brown from St. Joseph, Missouri. Brown had been fishing on a boat dock when he fell into the Missouri River and did not resurface. His body was found around 12:00 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Buchanan County Medical Examiner. Brown’s next of kin has been notified.

The circumstances surrounding Brown’s fall into the river remain under investigation by the SJPD and other assisting agencies.
