Camdenton, MO – (The Lake Tribune) In a significant development, detectives from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, along with cadaver dogs from Gateway Search Dogs, Inc., have recovered human remains from a pond in Southern Camden County where the car of missing person Donnie Erwin was found on December 16th. Despite the years since Erwin’s disappearance, the cadaver dogs alerted to the presence of human remains on Saturday morning, December 23rd, focusing on an area near the pond’s center.

The following day, divers from the Mid County Fire Protection District searched and confirmed the find, also recovering an artificial hip that matched the one Mr. Erwin had. While forensic analysis is pending to conclusively identify the remains, investigators are confident they belong to Mr. Erwin. The family has been notified, bringing a measure of closure after a decade-long search.

This breakthrough was made possible with the help of various volunteers and professionals, including freelance videographer and drone pilot James Hinkle of Sounds Like Videos, who initially spotted the submerged vehicle while working with Beyond the Case.

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office extends heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the investigation over the years, highlighting the community’s effort to bring closure to the Erwin family.
