CAMDEN COUNTY STEPS UP COUNTER-TERRORISM MEASURES

CAMDEN COUNTY PREPARES FOR POTENTIAL THREATS

In light of global concerns, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office is ramping up its counter-terrorism measures, ensuring preparedness for any potential threats.

Sgt. Scott Hines highlighted that the recent tensions in the Middle East and potential threats to U.S. soil prompted the Missouri Office of Homeland Security to initiate a specialized program. This program aims to bolster local law enforcement’s readiness for any terror-related incidents.

“There was a noticeable gap in the number of law enforcement officers with training in identifying and reporting potential terrorist activities,” Hines stated.

To bridge this gap, Camden County has now incorporated three dedicated Counter Terrorism Officers into its ranks. Additionally, Hines mentioned the launch of a counter-terrorism tip line for public use.

“If anyone observes something unusual, which might not be an immediate emergency or an ongoing crime but appears to be related to terrorism, this tip line provides an avenue for anonymous reporting,” he explained.

Residents can find the tip submission form on the Camden County Sheriff’s official website. However, in cases where the threat seems imminent, the public is advised to dial 9-1-1 directly.
